Nicole is a goal-driven and compassionate clinician who is motivated to promote growth and change with those individuals she works with and enjoys celebrating those changes as they occur. She is passionate about her career and is always looking for a way to make a difference in people’s lives. Nicole strives to help individuals feel comfortable discussing difficult topics and encourages coping while focusing on positive outcomes. She believes in developing a strong therapeutic relationship and utilizes a collaborative approach in reaching therapeutic goals and achieving success. 

Nicole attended the University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health, Leisure, and Sports Studies and became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She worked for several years as a Recreational Therapist. The desire to broaden her scope of practice led her to obtain a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Iowa (Once a Hawk ALWAYS a Hawk). Nicole is currently a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa. 

Nicole has professional experience treating individuals with mental health needs in a variety of settings. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, in the school system, and within the community providing mental health services for a wide range of diagnoses and behaviors. Nicole’s experience includes, though is not limited to, working with children, adolescents, and adults with depression, anxiety, autism, behavior concerns, ADHD, abuse/trauma, and low self-esteem. 

Nicole’s primary specialty is the use of cognitive behavioral therapy. This approach promotes change in one’s thought process which in turn facilitates change in behavior and overall outcome. She prides herself on being an advocate for those she works with and creating an environment that promotes safety and security when discussing tough situations and/or events. Nicole enjoys working with a wide range of ages and accepts clients 4 years of age and up. 

In her free time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and her family and friends, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, playing with her dog, Nala, and humor which is often at her expense 😊.
