Nakomis enjoys creating a safe, welcoming and comfortable space for her clients to talk about whatever challenges they face.  She provides a collaborative client-centered approach to journey alongside her clients toward wellness. She enjoys using a holistic mind, body and spirit viewpoint in assisting her clients with embracing their individual strengths and gain insight to empower themselves. She is passionate about assisting clients in creating effective change in their lives centering around a non-judgmental approach, fostering an inclusive and empowering space.

Nakomis received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.  She specialized in the mental health and wellbeing in Native American, LGBTQ+ and the underserved and elderly populations. She has worked in the areas of multi-dimensional client advocacy, on both the social and community level, and in areas of cultural competency. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Iowa.

Nakomis has professional experience using cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, trauma focused interventions and a variety of other therapy treatments. She enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, domestic and intimate partner violence, ADHD, autism and grief/loss. She works with both children and adults who have experienced trauma/abuse and is a trained EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapist.

When not working, Nakomis enjoys spending time in the outdoors, running marathons and enjoying the Arts and Entertainment. She is also interested in anything that broadens the mind and perspective; mostly science and medicine, you can always find her with an interesting research article in her hand.
