Megan Mortensen DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric - Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Dr. Megan Mortensen is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner offering mental health care for patients through the lifespan. With a foundation in the nursing discipline, she takes a holistic approach; putting the person before the disease. Using medications, complementary and alternative treatments, and counseling on lifestyle changes she collaborates with her patient to find the best treatment plan for the individual. She believes the potential to grow and find happiness lies within each individual and is passionate about helping others to realize their own potential and inner strength.
Dr. Mortensen received her Doctor of Nursing Practice as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner from the University of Iowa in 2013. She then went on to complete her Post-Doctoral Certificate for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2014. She is registered with the Iowa Board of Nursing, the Iowa Board of Pharmacy and credentialed through the ANCC and APNA. She has worked as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2014. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, she worked as a Labor and Delivery RN for 6 years in Seattle, Minneapolis and West Des Moines.
When the work day is done, Dr. Mortensen can’t wait to get home to her two young daughters. Teaching her children about the world around them all while having fun and being goofy is her definition of pure joy. In addition to spending time with her children, she also loves running, biking, rowing, cooking and traveling. Taking time in the summer to run a Tough Mudder course has become a new family tradition.
